Carlos Slim’s pay-TV up 22%

Mexico-based America Movil, owned by billionaire Carlos Slim, has reported a 22 per cent increase in pay-TV subscribers this past quarter-year.
America Movil’s total Latin American subscribers (including telephony) numbers 325 million, which includes 16.4 million pay-TV subs. America Movil operates in Brazil through its ‘Net’ cable subsidiary and Claro DTH operation, and Brazil has enjoyed a 28.5 per cent growth with 12.6 million subscribers, up 540,000 during the quarter to December 31st.
