India’s DTH market continues to impress observers with its subscriber gains. The latest operator to unveil its numbers is telco giant Bharti, where its Airtel DTH division saw net subscriber numbers rise 439,000 during the most recent quarter-year (to December 31st), which is well ahead of last year’s 55,000.
All its other key metrics were positive, with operating profit rising from Rupees 33 million to Rs 147 million, and helped by a 6 per cent growth in subs numbers to 7.9 million.
ARPU is also up (from Rs 177 to Rs186) helped by a growing number of subscribers talking out HDTV options, while at the same time Churn was reduced from 1.9 per cent a month to 1.3 per cent.
