Channel 4 recommissions Taskmaster

Channel 4 has announced the recommission of Taskmaster, keeping the popular format on the British public service broadcaster.
The deal sees Greg Davies and Alex Horne continue in their roles as the Taskmaster and his sidekick in six new seasons of the global hit series. Taskmaster’s New Year Treat, and Taskmaster Champion of Champions will also return.
All series of Taskmaster will continue to be available to stream for free on Channel 4, and fans will now also be able to stream the New Zealand, Australian and Canadian versions of the show on Channel 4 and Channel 4’s YouTube channel (UK), which are among the 13 international versions of the format which air across the world.
The deal also includes full episodes on Channel 4’s YouTube channel for a UK audience. Season 19, which aired in 2025 also saw the strongest ever share for the show on the channel, with 0-7 day consolidated share showing more than four times the slot average of hard to reach 16-34s. Taskmaster clips on Channel 4 run social platforms YouTube, TikTok, Facebook and Snapchat reached 165 million global views in 2025.
Globally, Taskmaster views on the official worldwide YouTube channel hit 1.4 billion, reflecting a significant growth in popularity in 2025 with annual views up 69 per cent to 426 million, and new subscribers up 69 per cent. There has also been a continued increase in North American viewership year on year, with views up 70 per cent to 243 million, while new subscribers from North America were up 82 per cent. The channel has now reached over 1.4 billion lifetime views across over 100 million unique viewers since it launched in 2019.

Horne commented: “I’m pleased and quite stressed that I’ve got to come up with a lot more tasks for a lot more comedians but the thought of three more years in Greg’s deep embrace is soothing my little head”.
Davies said: “I am delighted the comedian meat grinder remains open for business. I look forward to gleefully keeping it fed with the help of a small, introverted man that I own.”

Taskmaster Season 21 debuts on Channel 4 on April 9th.
