Banijay Entertainment’s 100 Knives cuts first international deal

March 12, 2026

Media and entertainment powerhouse, Banijay Entertainment, has announced the first international adaptation of high-stakes culinary format 100 Knives, with a local Danish version commissioned by TV 2, and produced by Metronome, part of Banijay Nordic.

The deal marks the format’s expansion following the debut commission for Mastiff Sweden from TV4. The Danish adaptation, filmed on the established set in Stockholm, will premiere this autumn on TV 2. Co-developed with Bunim/Murray Productions, part of Banijay Americas, and Smart Dog Media, 100 Knives throws 100 chefs into a pressure-cooker arena where teamwork, speed and precision determine who survives the heat.

From Michelin-star talent to food content creators and aspiring culinary stars, contestants compete in brigades through escalating challenges that test skill and leadership. With each episode, chefs leave the competition and brigades are reshaped, tightening the kitchen until only the strongest remain, culminating in one ultimate winner who proves they can thrive and lead under pressure.

Tina Christensen, MD, Metronome says: “100 Knives is high-intensity format that pushes contestants to deliver at an exceptional level. Its scope, energy and emotional drive set it apart, while the calibre of talent bring genuine culinary excellence to every challenge. Delivering the first international version has been a major creative opportunity, and collaborating with colleagues at Mastiff Sweden has allowed us to retain the format’s ambition while shaping it for TV 2’s audiences.”

Thomas Richardt Strøbech, Channel Controller, TV 2 Denmark, says: “With its huge cast, fierce eliminations, wild twists and emphasis on teamwork, 100 Knives brings together the best elements of reality television. The contestants’ passion for their craft is unmistakeable as they make fast, pressure-cooker decisions with absolute precision. Viewers will quickly find their favourites to champion throughout, driving incredibly gripping television from the very first episode.”

James Townley, Chief Content Officer, Development at Banijay Entertainment says: “The swift international uptake of 100 Knives reflects the growing demand for premium, emotionally driven formats that deliver scale and ambition. This adaptation showcases the strength of our creative network at Banijay Entertainment, with cross-territory teams collaborating on the initial development, through to production in Sweden and now Denmark. It’s an excellent example of how partnerships fuel global hits.”

Metronome is one of Denmark’s most well-known production companies, delivering successful content across all platforms and genres. Its slate includes International Emmy-winning Shaolin Heroes, now spanning six markets, alongside other locally created titles Who’s Guilty?, Roast on the Coast, Stripped, and Alone Together. Metronome’s portfolio also includes Danish versions of blockbusters Fear Factor, Last One Laughing, The Block, Taskmaster, and Ex on the Beach.

100 Knives was highlighted at Banijay Entertainment’s London TV Screenings 2026 alongside a slate of original and entertaining properties, including Last One Standing, The Bicycle Race, Football Island, How Old is Your Brain?, Staying Alive, The Dinner, Who’s Guilty? and DecoMasters.
