Virgin Media O2 circles Netomnia
February 3, 2026
European telco giants Telefónica and Liberty Global, the joint owners of Virgin Media O2, have partnered with private equity firm InfraVia Capital to acquire alternative full fibre broadband network Netomnia, according to FT.
The deal, valued at £2 billion (€2.3bn), would combine Netomnia’s fibre build with nexfibre’s footprint and parts of Virgin Media O2, creating a network covering some 8 million homes, with access to around 20 million premises when including Virgin Media’s infrastructure.
Netomnia recently shared its 2025 financial results, with take up reaching 15 per cent and revenue at £104 million.
Any potential deal would likely see competition rules raised.
