Luminarium: Myriad coming to London
January 20, 2026
This spring, London will welcome an extraordinary immersive art experience as Luminarium: Myriad opens in the capital for the first time at Woolwich Works. Created by the internationally acclaimed Architects of Air and world-renowned artist Alan Parkinson, the monumental inflatable sculpture will be open during Easter from April 2nd until April 6th, offering attendees the opportunity to step together into a world shaped entirely by light, colour and architectural form.
Luminarium: Myriad is a feast for the senses and an adventure for all ages. Visitors can wander through winding tunnels, soar beneath cavernous domes, and explore interconnected chambers full of radiant colour, created as natural light filters through translucent PVC walls. An ambient soundtrack gently accompanies the experience, adding to the calming atmosphere, and creating an environment that encourages curiosity, play and exploration.
Whether guests choose to discover every twist and turn as a group, or find a quiet corner to sit, lie down, or reflect, each visit offers a personal journey of wonder and delight. Open during daylight hours and utilising only natural light, it is a transformative, immersive experience that has an energising effect on children and a calming effect on adults, transporting everyone into a luminous, organic environment insulated from the bustle of the city outside.
The structure is fully accessible to wheelchair users, and visitors are encouraged to wander freely at their own pace while soaking up the experience.
Inspired by points of light in the night sky, the installation evokes infinity, movement, and discovery, making each journey through Myriad unique. Visits last approximately twenty to thirty minutes, with every step revealing new visual surprises.
Drawing on the grandeur of Islamic and Gothic cathedrals as well as modern architecture, the structure incorporates three-dimensional geometric volumes such as dodecahedra and shapes reminiscent of soap bubbles, plant forms, and cell structures – sparking curiosity and imagination in younger visitors while captivating adults.
Nick Williams, Director of Woolwich Works, commented: “With its use of natural light and beautiful soundscapes, Luminarium: Myriad is a great day out for families of all ages and generations over the Easter break”
Working like a modern form of stained glass, the translucent coloured PVC filters daylight while silver PVC elements create subtle reflective hues, producing a space that is alive with colour and light. Handcrafted by a dedicated team of five over four months, this monumental, half-football-pitch-sized sculpture is an organic, ephemeral environment designed to inspire awe, conversation and shared moments of discovery.
Priced at £8 with no booking fee. Families and friends group tickets for four are available for £28.
Whether visitors are seeking inspiration, quality time together, a moment of calm, or a sense of childlike wonder, Myriad promises an unforgettable journey through colour and space – and with additional specialty programming within the Luminarium to be announced soon, there will be even more ways for visitors to explore, play, and interact with this magical world.
