wedotv invests in sports content

January 20, 2026

wedotv, the free ad-supported streaming network, has announced an investment in sports programming rights for its FTA/FAST channel wedotv sports, available in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

The content investments for wedotv sports include renewed agreements with HBA Media, a distributor of international horse racing rights. This deal brings viewers more than 40 days of live horse racing on wedotv sports, featuring the full Crown Jewels Racing package with 20 top-tier international events. The lineup also includes global racing festivals such as the Cheltenham Festival, Qatar Goodwood Festival, Skybet Ebor Festival and the Melbourne Cup Carnival.

In addition, wedotv sports will have golf from the Asian Tour, including the Saudi Open, the Jakarta International Championship, Philippine Open, New Zealand Open, and the International Series Japan; SailGP, the annual international sailing competition featuring high-performance F50 foiling catamarans; the burgeoning global sensation Power Slap; and Pro Bull Riding.

“We originally launched wedotv sports in DACH in 2023 and since that time the channel has grown 10-fold, proving that free sports content is in high demand,” commented wedotv co-CEO Philipp Rotermund. “We are pleased to be able to renew our licensing agreements with our established partners, and also add some fast-growing sports to our programme offering. Keeping our programming current and introducing sports fans to new and exciting sports from around the world is a top priority.”

wedotv sports features German and international live sporting events, weekly programmes with highlights from football, Formula 1, eSports, martial arts and more.  In addition, the programming lineup includes documentaries about sports legends such as Tiger Woods, David Beckham and Michael Schumacher, as well as world-famous teams like Manchester United and other well-known national clubs.

Currently, wedotv sports is available in DACH on Zattoo, Waipu.tv, LG Channels, Hotbird 13/E, Kabelio, Amazon, O2TV and the VIDAA Smart TV platform.
