Go Button Media greenlit for two new series by Cineflix Rights, Super Channel
October 8, 2025
As it celebrates 10 years in business, Canadian independent producer Go Button Media is going into production on two new factual series: War Trains (8 x 60) and Ancient Disasters (10 x 60). Both have been recently greenlit by long-standing Go Button collaborators, international distributor Cineflix Rights and Canadian broadcaster Super Channel, and form part of a 60-hour slate deal announced last year.
Cineflix Rights has also recently sold two series previously greenlit as part of the partnership. Mysteries of Ancient Medicine (10 x 60) has been pre-sold to National Geographic International for its viewers worldwide, and Oracles and Prophets (10 x 60) has also been sold to National Geographic International.
War Trains takes an unprecedented look at the importance of the train in shaping the outcomes of modern conflict. From heroic freight missions to the mobilisation of great armies and from daring rescues to trains as weapons, the series examines defining moments in railway history that prove the train’s significance as a vital cog in the military machine. Archival footage brings each war story to life, with innovative CGI highlighting the trains’ mechanical transformations. Historians and engineers share their expertise on what it took to build, conduct and deploy the trains – covering conflicts that range from the American Revolution and the Crimean War to landmark events in World War II and the Cold War that followed.
Ancient Disasters is a visually stunning and cinematic series that revisits the earthquakes, fires, floods and plagues endured by ancient civilisations and reveals new evidence that shows, while these natural catastrophes were beyond their control, their responses could be complex and often chilling. Cutting-edge CGI and dramatizations, along with analysis from experts such as historians, volcanologists, and geologists, will not only shed light on the science behind each catastrophe but also explain why some cultures managed to rebuild, while others were lost altogether. Through some of these stories of ancient resilience and surprising disaster responses, we also learn about folklore that eerily aligns with geological events, and discover new cultural traditions spawned from these disasters in our distant past. Catastrophes examined in the series include the Great Fire of Rome in 64AD, the eruption of Thera in 1600BCE, the Storegga Slide – a tsunami which put the land between Britain and continental Europe underwater in the Mesolithic period, and Angkor Wat’s Little Ice Age in the 14th and 15th centuries.
Daniel Oron, co-founder and executive producer at Go Button Media, comments: “It feels right to mark the start of Go Button’s 10th anniversary year by going into production on two such powerful series, in collaboration with two of our most enduring partnerships. Super Channel has proved an exceptional broadcast ally for us over the past decade, and we are energized to keep delivering shows that work so well for its viewers in Canada. We are inspired that Cineflix Rights continues to place such great faith in our boutique business. A mutual focus on great stories, combined with trust and understanding, has grown into a vastly beneficial relationship. As a result, Cineflix has a ready stream of shows to add to its catalogue and our programmes are viewed around the world. Moreover, the market intel we get from the team helps ensure we continue producing series that work domestically and internationally.”
Felicia Litovitz, VP, Acquisitions North America, Cineflix Rights, says: “Go Button has been a great partner for Cineflix Rights, consistently providing high-quality ideas which we can work together on to deliver multiple series with global appeal, and whose continuing success is demonstrated through these latest deals with National Geographic.”
Kim Ball, chief content officer at Super Channel, adds: “Our partnership with Go Button Media has grown stronger over the past decade. We’re delighted to continue to work alongside Daniel and the team, who consistently deliver compelling, high-quality series, and remain a valued partner. Congratulations on 10 successful years.”
