Every year the Society of Satellite Professionals elects a handful of VIPs to its Hall of Fame, designed to recognise the special contribution made by the individuals concerned. Past honourees include the ‘father of satellite broadcasting’ Arthur C Clarke.
This year’s group will be honoured on March 15 in Washington DC, and includes Eutelsat’s former CEO Giuliano Berretta; SES World Skies president and CEO Robert Bednarek; Ed Horowitz, the former chairman of SES Americom; Jean-Yves Le Gall, the CEO of Arianespace, Masanori Akiyama, president/CEO of Sky Perfect JSAT. A special posthumous award goes to Dean Olmstead, formerly of Americom and Echostar, and who passed away last year.
