AMC launches Spanish pay-TV channels in Europe
October 8, 2018
Two major players in Spain’s media landscape, AMC Networks International Southern Europe (AMCNISE) and Atresmedia Internacional, have partnered to launch a pay-TV bouquet offering a wide range of Spanish-language TV channels in Europe.
AMCNISE will offer its popular thematic channels Canal Cocina (cooking), Canal Decasa (lifestyle), Sol Música (Spanish music) and Somos (classic Spanish cinema); while Atresmedia will supply the bouquet with Atrescine (contemporary Spanish cinema), Atreseries (series) and Antena 3 Internacional (news and entertainment). The package will be marketed through the main European pay-TV operators.
Manuel Balsera, SVP Sales, Marketing and Digital of AMCNISE said, “Through this partnership we look to provide operators across Europe with an exclusive and diverse range of Spanish TV content. This exceptional, new channel bouquet meets the growing demand for Spanish-language content in other European countries, where there are currently more than 23 million Spanish speakers”.
Javier Nuche, General Manager of Atresmedia Internacional, commented, “After having experienced a fourfold increase in the number of subscribers to Atresmedia Internacional’s channels in Latin America and the United States, the next step is to expand in Europe, a region with high potential. This alliance strengthens our competitive position within Europe due to AMC Networks International Southern Europe’s trade capacity, while offering audiences a first-rate Spanish TV channel bouquet.”
