Orbital ATK bought by Northrop

Satellite builder Orbital ATK has received approval from the USA’s Federal Trade Commission for a proposed sale to aerospace company Northrop Grumman for $7.8 billion.
The new business will now be known as Northrop Grumman Innovation Systems. The deal is expected to close after business on June 6th. The EU approved the deal back in February.
Orbital ATK is based at Dulles, Virginia, near Washington DC. Orbital ATK is a regular client of NASA and is one of two company’s used to fly cargo to the International Space Station. Orbital and ATK themselves came together in a merger in 2015.
Orbital ATK is a regular supplier to the commercial satellite sector, and has recently supplied satellites to SES (SES-16), YahSat (Al Yah 3), Avanti (Hylas-4), Thailand (Thaicom 6 and 8), DirecTV and others. It is currently building Intelsat’s Galaxy 30 craft, as well as Eutelsat’s 5 West B craft.
