329 children’s TV channels in Europe

A total of 329 children’s TV channels (including the various linguistic versions) are currently on offer in Europe, accounting for 6 per cent of all national and international TV channels established in Europe. One children’s TV network features on average 2.6 linguistic versions, according to data from the European Audiovisual Observatory.
The quarter of all children’s TV networks in Europe accounted for by the US private sector (33) nonetheless represents around 70 per cent of the total number of children’s channels at the pan-European level (225) because each US children’s network has an average of seven linguistic versions.
The US children’s TV channels account for 60% of the total children channels ratings in Europe.
