February 12, 2026

Under an agreement signed between 2Connect and Yettel Hungary, 2Connect is providing Yettel with wholesale access to its broadband fixed infrastructure. The agreement underscores the continued relevance the market relevance of the independent wholesale infrastructure provider model. It promotes the efficient use of network resources and provides Yettel with an opportunity to offer fixed electronic communications services to its consumers and businesses as part of its own service portfolio in the future.

The agreement was developed and implemented in compliance with applicable electronic communications and competition laws.

New type of open and independent wholesale model

The collaboration is based on 2Connect’s wholesale-only operating model and provides transparent, predictable, long-term framework for developing and enhancing of Yettel’s fixed-line portfolio. The service is delivered over the high-speed optical and HFC fixed-line infrastructure of 2Connect, which reaches millions of households and businesses, under technical and operational conditions that ensure stable and reliable end-user connectivity.

As a member of 4iG Group, 2Connect is the leading fixed telecommunications infrastructure provider of Hungary. Using successful international examples, it operates on a wholesale-only basis as an independent service provider, offering a reliable technological background for its wholesale telecommunications partners and retail electronic communications operators rather than engaging in retail 2Connect provides network and data center infrastructure solutions to support the operation of telecommunications and digital services for market participants.

2Connect was set up as part of the transformation programme of 4iG Group to enable independent and transparent operation of its infrastructure services. In line with the company’s history, One Hungary is the key wholesale partner and client of 2Connect’s fixed-line infrastructure and data centre services.

Under this agreement, Yettel joins the open wholesale model as a new service provider. 2Connect operates an optical fiber network spanning nearly 42,000 kilometers, 15,000 microwave endpoints, and approximately 6,500 square meters of data centre capacity. 2Connect’s national backbone and access networks, together with its data centres, ensure connectivity for the Hungarian digital economy as well as for the regional digital market.

“Building on decades of wholesale experience from 2Connect and its predecessors, this agreement represents a key step in the efficient and service-independent utilisation of the national fixed-line infrastructure. In line with international best practices, separating commercial telecommunications services, and infrastructure makes network capacity to be available to all market participants on equal terms. The purpose of setting up 2Connect was to create an open wholesale network that would support competition and ensure long-term profitability of network investments,” said Gyöngyvér Papp-Gerlei, CEO of 2Connect.

Wholesale partnerships with external market actors are fully in line with 4iG Group long-term strategy and support its operational and investment goals, strengthening the return on investments and financial stability. The agreement goes beyond a traditional wholesale partnership, it strengthens 2Connect’s integrated market position, and the wholesale model, based on independent infrastructure, makes network investments more efficient while encouraging competition in the market. Freeing up resources enables consumer service providers to focus on innovation and improving the customer experience. This results in more stable, future-proof digital services for end-users.
