Escapade Media secures global rights to Food Diary
September 10, 2025
Escapade Media has secured worldwide rights to Food Diary (4 x 60’), a new cinematic factual series by acclaimed storyteller Robert Roworth, featuring celebrated chef Colin Fassnidge and the ever-spirited James White.
Food Diary, which will be launched to buyers at MIPCOM, is no ordinary travelogue. It is a visceral journey through countries that rarely top tourist lists, where food, politics, history, and humanity collide in ways that feel both jarringly foreign and deeply familiar. From the sweeping steppe of Mongolia, through the raw vibrancy of Cambodia, and ending in the soulful rhythms of Okinawa, Colin and James step into lives far beyond their own, guided by curiosity, courage, and the belief that food is the purest gateway into our shared human story.
At the helm, Robert Roworth’s breathtaking cinematography, captures not just landscapes but the pulse beneath them—his lens moving with an almost visceral quality that lingers long after the screen fades. His eye for detail and his ear for authentic stories weave together to create a series that is as moving as it is adventurous.
Food Diary is created and produced by Robert Roworth and Colin Fassnidge, with James White as Associate Producer.
Irish chef, author and television presenter, Colin Fassnidge is a judge on the Australian version of My Kitchen Rules since 2013 and a presenter on the home lifestyle program Better Homes and Gardens.
Providore, food industry hero and media personality James White, is the audience’s companion on this journey. His enthusiasm, excitement and infectious warmth create an open invitation into each world they explore.
Colin Fassnidge comments, “I’ve been cooking nearly 40 of my 50 years, yet I know there’s so much more to learn – new ingredients, new stories, new tables to sit at. Cooking has always been a way to connect, to cut through politics and differences. Around the table, everyone has a voice. This journey strips away the scripts and rules, leaving me to react to life as it comes – new cultures, new foods, and my honest take on it. Food Diary is a show that is raw, real, sometimes confronting but always full of heart.”
“This cinematic series embraces elements from Gordon Ramsay’s Uncharted to the thrills of Indiana Jones,” says Natalie Lawley of Escapade Media. “It’s about adventure, about human connection and becoming part of each place you step into. Colin and James don’t just observe, they immerse, and Robert turns those moments into unforgettable cinema. We are thrilled to be working with them and building Food Diary into many seasons to come.”
Robert Roworth: “In creating food diary I started with the fundamental principle that there is more in this world that unites us than divides us; we live similar lives but with nuance and it is that nuance that makes us interesting to one another.”
