VeEX introduces remote Optical Test Tool for fibre networks

March 21, 2025

VeEX Inc., a global leader in innovative test and measurement solutions for next-generation networks, has introduced what is says is the industry’s first remote Optical Test Tool (OTT) designed to increase efficiency in optical distribution network construction verification.

With the increasing demand for fibre connectivity, communication service providers need smarter, faster ways to build, test and troubleshoot optical distribution access networks. Traditionally, the building and verification processes are slow and costly, requiring manual fibre testing, multiple trips, and several technicians.

The new patent-pending OTT remote test companion switch simplifies this process by directing any test signal source fed to its input towards the desired Distribution (F2) fibre, all at the control of the field technician at the far-end. Designed for field operations at the optical splitter cabinet, the innovative OTT One-Tech-Out approach allows a single technician to set it up with multiple fibre drop connections. The technician can then remotely control it using any mobile phone while testing the F2 fibre at each Fibre Serving Terminal (FST).

Key Features:

  • Remote switching of test signal to as many as 32 Distribution fibres
  • Simple control and operation; no apps or configuration required
  • Field portable, battery operated
  • Intuitive LED status indicators
  • IoT remote connectivity
  • Geo-location (GPS) capabilities
  • Standard USB-C port

“The development of the OTT was driven by valuable feedback from key Tier 1 customers, highlighting the need for enhanced scalability and efficiencies to support the rapid expansion of fibre access networks,” said Monica Hua, VeEX Product Manager. “We actively engaged with our customers to gain insights into their challenges and workflows, allowing us to tailor a solution that effectively addresses their needs. The OTT, along with our ‘One-Tech Out’ approach, significantly reduces the requirement for multiple technicians and mitigates the need for repetitive trips to the splitter cabinet, resulting in an expedited validation process, minimised errors, and decreased operational costs.”
