BBC Studios and Ludo Studio have announced that actress Han Gain is the voice behind the first-ever Bluey Book Read to be narrated in Korean.
Known for her roles in the likes of Moon Embracing the Sun, Bad Guy, Mistress and Architecture 101, Han Gain brings her talent and warmth to the Bluey storybooks Baby Race narrated in Korean and Goodnight, Fruit Bat narrated in English. Both videos are now live on the official Korean Bluey YouTube channel.
Han Gain commented: “Bluey is so special because it is a kid’s animation that both children and parents can fall in love with. There are so many real and authentic parenting moments reflected in the series that have touched my heart and this is what makes Bluey so charming and relatable.”
“We’ve seen such a brilliant response from Bluey fans to our book reads published so far and are delighted to be launching our first read in Korean read by the fantastic Han Gain,” added Simon Clarke, Director, Digital – Bluey, BBC Studios.
The Bluey Book Reads have been produced by BBC Studios Digital Brands team. Han Gain’s Bluey Book Read is the second to be read in a local language. French actress and comedian Camille Cottin (Call My Agent, House of Gucci), read The Beach in French as well as English. The series launched on YouTube and Bluey.tv in February, with the iconic Australian sisters Kylie and Dannii Minogue reading Mini Bluey. Since then the digital-exclusive series has garnered over 72 million views across Bluey’s digital platforms.
Other celebrities who have lent their voices to Bluey Book Reads include: Australian TV personality and conservationist Bindi Irwin; UK Olympic gold medal diver Tom Daley; UK stand-up comedian, actor and presenter Romesh Ranganathan; English actress and producer Suranne Jones; American actress Jenna Fischer; Hollywood star Eva Mendes; American actor, singer and dancer Jordan Fisher; and American actor, comedian and writer Rob Delaney.
BBC Studios will also be launching a second batch of four Bluey storybooks in Korean language with partner Penguin Random House in November.
