January 10, 2014
Channel 4 has unveiled plans to take its viewers on a 90-minute, HD, trip around the world, during a live broadcast from the International Space Station.
Live from Space: Lap of the Planet, scheduled to air in March, will feature live interviews with ISS astronauts and HD footage of Earth filmed from the station, as it completes an orbit of the planet. The two-hour programme will cover the station’s progress during the 90 minutes it takes to orbit the planet, travelling at 17,500 miles per hour, 250 miles above the earth’s surface.
The live broadcast from the ISS is to be simulcast by Channel 4 in the UK and US cable broadcaster National Geographic Channel.
