Online video traffic jam ahead
March 21, 2011
A research report predicts online traffic 2010-2015 will grow 50 per cent a year to 1.26 million petabytes with video by far the biggest factor.
Informa’s ‘Congestion up ahead?’ report says that in 2010 online video generated more traffic than P2P for the first time and it predicts the proportion of P2P will now decline. It predicts that by 2015 HD video will outstrip SD and video direct to connected TVs will account for 10 per cent of all traffic.
