1.2m HD on Freeview
February 3, 2011
More than one million Freeview TVs and set-top boxes that can receive HD channels have been sold. In the nine months since the service launched, Freeview has estimated that 642,000 homes now watch Freeview HD and there are 1.2m devices sold.
Freeview said that the surge in HDTV sales over the festive period helped ensure the 1m + Freeview HD device mark was hit so quickly. The TV service hopes that by the end of next year, 98.5 per cent of the UK will be able to receive Freeview HD.
