YouTube, 1bn a day…?
October 9, 2009
comScore said that in August YouTube surpassed 10 billion views in a single month in the United States , now on the third anniversary of its $1.65 billion deal with Google, YouTube has released more precise viewing figures than it had in the past, saying it serves more than 1 billion videos a day or roughly 30 billion in a month. Unlike comSAcore the viewing data released by YouTube is global.
The numbers emerge at the same time as Google has admitted it paid $1bn more than YouTube may be worth in order to ensure its rivals didn't get it and Wall St continues to speculate that it is a cash drain with the ability to monetize less than five per cent of its content.
