Kangaroo test-run before competition ruling
November 18, 2008
Project Kangaroo, the JV between ITV, the BBC and Channel 4, is planning a test launch in January ahead of a competition ruling that will decide its ultimate fate. It is currently the subject of a Competition Commission investigation assessing its impact on the online video-on-demand market, but is forging ahead with technical development of the internet TV venture.
It is understood that Project Kangaroo will be uploading programming content in December and aims to launch beta trials of the service early next year. The trials will see a limited number of users allowed to access the service in a strictly closed test of the service’s usability and functionality.
