DirecTV Latin America and SKY Brazil have announced the expansion of their strategic collaboration with Amazon to offer satellite broadband services powered by Amazon Leo to a potential 15 million businesses in Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru and Uruguay.
Amazon Leo will expand its existing agreement to provide service to residential customers, DirecTV Latin America and SKY Brazil will also offer high-speed, low-latency satellite internet for the B2B segment, including small, medium, and large companies in all industries.
“This expanded collaboration with Amazon reinforces our commitment to connecting companies in the region regardless of their location,” scommented Guillermo Vázquez, director of Strategic Alliances for DirecTV Latin America and SKY Brazil.
“Amazon Leo’s advanced satellite technology will allow us to offer corporate-level connectivity to companies that operate in remote areas where traditional infrastructure is limited or non-existent,” added Vázquez, who will lead the territorial rollout for its commercialization.
Vázquez explained that, by extending its collaboration with Amazon to include corporate clients, Waiken —the holding company that controls DirecTV Latin America and SKY Brazil operations— is responding to a critical need for reliable, high-performance connectivity in key economic sectors across the continent.
“This service will open up new opportunities for energy, agriculture, logistics, and other industries that require connectivity in challenging environments,” he added.
Local customers will connect to the network through one of the compact, high-performance antennas: Leo Nano, Leo Pro, and Leo Ultra.
Leo Ultra is the most powerful model in the line, capable of reaching download speeds of up to 1 Gbps and upload speeds of up to 400 Mbps, supporting high-demand enterprise applications such as real-time data processing, advanced industrial automation, intensive video workloads, and critical operating systems.
