e.tv remains on DStv, for now

South African independent broadcaster, eMedia, can keep its channels on the DStv platform for the time being.
MultiChoice has long wanted the channels removed and had determined that a five year carriage deal in place with eMedia would not be renewed. That decision was halted by South Africa’s Competition Tribunal.
However, a formal complaint by eMedia to the Competition Tribunal over four channels (e.tv Extra, eToonz, eMovies and eMovies Extra) will be heard in August 2024. The Tribunal has extended an order that the eMedia channels stay on air for the next 6 months.
The new permission means the channels will stay on DStv until at least August 2024 or until the ending on the formal hearing.
