June 25, 2019
KPN CEO Maximo Ibarra is leaving the Dutch phone company after less than two years in the role to reportedly take the helm of Comcast’s Italian pay-TV unit, Sky Italia.
Ibarra, 50, has resigned for “pressing family reasons” and because he is to move back to Italy to “take up a new executive position”, accordng to a statement from KPN. He is set to lead the role on September 30th.
“I have been with KPN since 2017 and was appointed CEO in 2018. I regret the timing, but family reasons gave me no choice. I will dedicate myself the coming months to secure a seamless transfer to my successor,” said Ibarra.
Ibarra will replace Andrea Zappia as Sky Italia CEO if the reports ring true.
