NHK says it has added an extra 23 million potential viewing homes for its NHK World TV channel, taking the total distribution (at the end of December) to more than 270 million.
Already this year (and since January 1st 2014) broadcasting has also commenced in Thailand, Taiwan and Indonesia through satellite operators resulting in a total of 240,000 increases in a number of households with viewing capabilities. Broadcast will be also available shortly in Nigeria through a local satellite operator, says NHK.
2014 will see NHK further target distribution in North America and Southeast Asia.
