Mediaset launching Infinity OTT service

Italian commercial broadcaster Mediaset will launch its OTT service Infinity on December 11th.
Infinity will provide immediate access to over 5,000 movies, available at any time on a wide variety of devices, including tablets, Smart TVs, DTT boxes, satellite decoders, PCs, smart phones and game consoles (Xbox and Playstation).
Movie and TV content will be streamed for €9.99 per month, with no contractual obligations. Customers can also opt for the “single ticket”: movie premieres on PPV which will cost €2.99. Registered users will be able to rent a single movie for 48 hours priced either €2 or €4 from a choice of 100 titles no longer in cinemas, but not yet transmitted by pay-TV operators.
The Download & Go function will enable subscribers to download content on their tablet (from April 2014 also on smartphones and laptops) in order to watch it at a later time, even in the absence of a connection.
Mediaset will provide a free taster of the service for 15 days. Content will be available in SD and HD, with double audio (original language and Italian), while access will be possible from two devices simultaneously.
Rival pay-TV operator Sky Italia is expected to launch its own OTT service, branded River, in March 2014.
