Xavier Niel, the CEO of Iliad, owner of Free, has unveiled the awaited new generation Freebox Delta that adds a free of charge access to Netflix, and an option for the Devialet music player.
Available from now for €49.99 or €59.99 with Devialet sound, the pyramis shaped box, designed by Jasper Morrisson, converges services and technologies to help the French telco recruit new subscribers. Over one year, the group has lost around 60,000 fixed subs, and 160,000 mobile subs.
Delta also includes an access to a thousand press titles gathered in Lekiosk, to Canal+’s VOD service as well as Amazon’s vocal assistant Alexa. The device, whose previous version dated back to 2010 offers a 10 Gbits/s speed, a 4K HDR image quality, and a mixed 4G/IPTV technology to bring higher speeds to subscribers without a FTTH connection. The storage capacity can be upped to 20TB.
