Telefonica’s OTT Yomvi gains momentum

With the recent launch of Netflix in Spain the competition in the OTT market has intensified with Telefonica’s service Yomvi growing significantly, according to the company.
In October Yomvi registered over 40 million downloads, double the same period last year. The service has 1 million active subscribers out of the total 4 million of subscribers to Movistar Plus. On average, there are 14 million VoD downloads every month and over 25 million viewing linear channels.
Currently, Yomvi has a library of 15,000 titles with over 6,000 titles in Yomvi Play, out of which 43 per cent are TV series, 18 per cent movies and 35 per cent children content.
In October, its 1 million clients had access to the service through 1.9 million devices consuming an average of 41 content a month each client versus 23 in 2012, above all TV series (53 per cent), cinema (38 per cent) and other content (9 per cent) with 80 per cent of content being premium.
By devices, Yomvi’s users have access to the service through smart phones (26 per cent), TV sets and tablets (25 per cent each one) and computers (24 per cent).
