New Glenn launch slips

April 16, 2026

By Chris Forrester

Blue Origin, the rocket company owned by Jeff Bezos, was scheduled to launch an AST SpaceMobile satellite on April 18th. This is the first time a New Glenn booster has been reused.

The launch has now slipped to April 19th and for lift-off window opens at 06.45am (Eastern Time) from Florida. In the event of a problem, or bad weather, the launch can slip a further day to April 20th.

The satellite is a BlueBird 2 FM2 craft, and will be the seventh satellite orbited for AST. These BlueBird satellites are needed to build AST’s direct-to-consumer connectivity for cellular broadband.

AST is expecting to place 45-60 satellites into orbit this year.
