SpaceX is currently permitted to launch its giant Starship on July 14th for the rocket’s 13th flight. However, this is a provisional Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) date, which might slip.

The FAA issued its formal Notices to Aircraft (NOTAM) that the primary launch time stated is at 5.45 pm (Texas Time), with a backup the following day. Both sets of launch times depend on good weather, and the rocket being ready.

Gwynne Shotwell, SpaceX’s president and COO has stated that this is again a test flight. She is targeting a rapid flight cadence of roughly one launch per month, with hopes of achieving full orbital injection on Flight 14 and expanding launches from both Texas and a new LC39A pad in Florida.

This mission will use Booster 20 and Ship 40, for the second flight of the Block 3 version.

New FAA documentation confirms that the flight will follow a profile similar to flight 12, with a southeast trajectory over the Atlantic.

On the agenda: tests of Raptor 3 engines, in-flight reignition, and a new attempt at controlled splashdown.
