Data: Poland tops mobile download speeds
June 1, 2026
Between January and the end of April 2026, Poland displays the fastest average mobile download speed among countries of comparable size, according to nPerf data. Poland consequently surpasses Germany and the UK, in a ranking where significant gaps remain between the 20 nations analyzed.
Over the period studied, Poland stands out with an average mobile download speed of 109.9 Mbps, the highest in the group. This result places it ahead of Germany (106.7 Mbps) and the UK (105.8 Mbps), completing the top three. For instance, such speeds allow users to download a HD movie (1.5 GB) in less than 2 minutes in these three countries.
Spain (101 Mbps) and Italy (95.6 Mbps) round out the top five, while Vietnam (91.1 Mbps) and Romania (89.3 Mbps) follow closely behind. At the other end of the spectrum, Paraguay (16.8 Mbps) has a speed nearly 6.5 times slower than Poland, highlighting the disparities observed. Among the other countries analysed, intermediate performances include those of Morocco (73.6 Mbps), Madagascar (63.4 Mbps), and Tunisia (37.5 Mbps).
The 20 nations included in this comparison share a land area similar to that of Poland (approximately 312,000 km²), a geo-demographic criterion enabling the analysis of mobile performance in comparable territorial contexts. Also featured are Cambodia (46.8 Mbps), Senegal (30.4 Mbps), and Uzbekistan (18.5 Mbps), reflecting diverse situations based on deployed infrastructure.
Persistent gaps across world regions
Analysis of the data reveals notable differences between continents. Europe dominates the top of the ranking with five countries in the top seven (Poland, Germany, UK, Spain, Italy), while Asia is represented by Vietnam, Thailand (86.7 Mbps), Cambodia, and Laos (30.7 Mbps). Africa, with Morocco, Madagascar, Tunisia, Senegal, Ivory Coast (22.6 Mbps), and Kenya (21.2 Mbps), generally shows performance below the group average (68.5 Mbps), with Morocco as an exception.
In South America, only Paraguay is included in this comparison, displaying the lowest speed in the ranking. Finally, Ukraine (35.4 Mbps) and Kyrgyzstan (23.7 Mbps) complete this snapshot of mobile speeds, underscoring that infrastructure and investment remain key factors in explaining these disparities.
Unsurprisingly, the highest-ranked countries provide users with smoother downloads, whether for streaming videos, updating applications, or sharing large files. Conversely, in the lowest-ranked nations, these same operations can take up to five times longer, depending on the content.
