Whisper appoints Miah
May 20, 2026
Whisper, the independent production powerhouse, has announced the appointment of Ronu Miah as General Counsel. This senior appointment marks a strategic step in Whisper’s new era of independence, following its return to full private ownership earlier this year.
With over two decades of experience across the global sports, media, and entertainment sectors, Miah is a highly respected legal and commercial specialist. He joins Whisper following a period running consultancy business Castalia supporting high profile clients such as Relevent Football Partners. Miah previously held senior roles at Sky Sports, beIN Media Group and Football Marketing Asia. His expertise lies in the commercialisation of sport, governance, and complex risk management on a global scale.
As General Counsel, Miah will lead Whisper’s legal department, overseeing all commercial negotiations and providing strategic counsel to the board as the company accelerates its international expansion. A skilled dealmaker, Miah has a proven track record of leading high-stakes negotiations exceeding $1 billion in value for major broadcasters, rights-holders, and governing bodies.
The appointment follows Whisper’s recent return to full private ownership following the exit of Sony Pictures Television. This move has been immediately followed by a bolstering of the senior leadership team, with Miah joining recent key appointments Fiona Morgan (Chief Brand Officer) and Jenny Collins (Chief People and Operating Officer) to further cement Whisper’s position as a leader in the global multi-genre entertainment landscape.
Sunil Patel, Whisper Founder & CEO, said: “Ronu is a phenomenal addition to our team. He is a world-class dealmaker who understands the intricacies of the global sports and media market as well as anyone in the business. As we enter this next phase of accelerated growth, his experience in navigating large negotiations and his relentless focus on commercial excellence make him the perfect fit for Whisper’s culture. Having Ronu lead our legal team ensures we have the strategic depth to continue disrupting the industry at scale.”
Ronu Miah, General Counsel, Whisper, added: “I am delighted to be joining Whisper at this exciting point in its journey. Whisper has built an exceptional reputation for creative excellence and innovation in sports storytelling. I am looking forward to working with Sunil and the senior leadership team as the business continues to scale internationally and unlock new commercial opportunities.
