Dead to Rights sigsn Fawesome streaming deal

April 30, 2026

Free streamer Fawesome has signed an exclusive AVoD streaming deal with Echelon Studios for Ao Shen’s Oscars contender, Dead to Rights.

The film, which is based on true events surrounding the Nanjing Massacre, has defied expectations, grossing over $450 million at the global box office, and drawn international attention for its unflinching portrayal of one of the 20th century’s most devastating chapters.

Documenting six harrowing weeks, Dead to Rights tells the story of A Chang (Liu Haoran, Detective Chinatown), a Chinese postal worker who assumes the identity of a photo developer to survive the occupation. Inside a Japanese-controlled studio, he secretly shelters Chinese soldiers and civilians. The photographs he risks his life to preserve would later expose the atrocities to the world and serve as crucial evidence in court.

Following a hugely successful theatrical and TVoD run, the film will first launch on Fawesome as its exclusive AVOD home, before expanding across additional AVoD platforms later in the month.

Dead to Rights is a story that demands to be seen, discussed, and remembered,” said Sandro Gohoho, President of Licensing and Operations for Echelon Studios. “We’re incredibly proud to be able to bring this film to Fawesome’s audiences at a moment when it feels especially relevant.”

“Streaming can do more than entertain, it can preserve, surface, and amplify stories that matter. Dead to Rights has resonated with audiences around the world for its clarity, scale, and emotional impact,” said David Di Lorenzo, SVP, Content Acquisitions and Partnerships at Future Today, Fawesome’s parent company. “Expanding access to films like this allows us to bring globally significant storytelling to the broadest possible audience on Fawesome.”

Dead to Rights will be available to stream on Fawesome from May 1st. Distribution company Echelon Studios says further distribution announcements are expected in the coming months.
