Specialist satellite data transmission business Speedcast says that demand for capacity and throughput continues to grow.

Jim Frownfelter, CEO and Executive Chairman of the Board, said: “In the first 90 days of 2026, we saw a nearly 50 percent increase in the amount of data managed across our LEO networks compared to Q1 2025. This milestone reflects the trust our customers place in us, and the growing role that dual-LEO solutions, combining the power of both Starlink and OneWeb, are playing in delivering the resilience and bandwidth that modern operations demand.”

“We’re continuing to see growth in these dual-LEO network designs and deployments for customers, with the mix leaning heavily maritime, across cruise lines, shipping and expedition vessels, and offshore energy. At the heart of this is our SIGMA platform, which enables seamless, intelligent management across multiple networks simultaneously, ensuring our customers experience the best possible connectivity without ever needing to think about what’s happening behind the scenes,” he added.

As of late 2025, Speedcast is undergoing a significant financial restructuring, with S&P Global Ratings reporting a “Negative” outlook due to free cash outflows through the first half of 2024 and high, floating-rate debt. The company is planning a major asset sale expected to close in mid-2026 to repay debt and improve liquidity, said a report from S&P.

The financial restructuring is expected to include the sale of 12 teleports (including land, buildings and antennas).
