Irdeto signs MOU with Binance

April 17, 2026

Irdeto, the specialist in digital platform security, has announced the signing of a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Binance, the cryptocurrency platform globally by trading volume and users. This agreement continues the evolution of Irdeto’s Cyber Services portfolio, particularly its Investigations and Payment Disruption capabilities, by enabling early identification and intervention against cybercriminals who use cryptocurrency to facilitate piracy and other illegal activities.

The new cooperation focuses on the investigation and disruption of individuals identified as utilizing the Binance platform to facilitate copyright and trademark infringements, as well as other criminal offenses. Irdeto’s intelligence-led investigations, carried out on behalf of its customers, have uncovered a growing use of cryptocurrency by threat actors across both the video entertainment and gaming ecosystems.

While total illicit on-chain transaction volume continues to decline globally, at 0.14 percent in a 2025 crypto crime report, Irdeto’s latest data highlights the growing trend in the use of cryptocurrency by illicit service providers in the video entertainment and gaming ecosystems climbed from 13 per cent in 2022 and surged to 20 per cent by the end of 2025.

Through this collaboration, Irdeto shares detailed investigative reports with Binance, helping to remove bad actors from the platform. This disrupts their ability to receive payments for illegal services and halts their progression into more serious forms of cybercrime.

“Our partnership with Binance enhances our Payment Disruption service, empowering us to remove financial lifelines from pirates and cheat developers before they can scale their operations. It also provides a path for our clients to potentially seize funds derived from illegal activities,” said Mark Mulready, Vice President of Cybersecurity Services at Irdeto. “This is a powerful example of how strategic industry collaboration can disrupt criminal infrastructure and protect the digital ecosystem.”

“At Binance, we are committed to collaborating with industry partners to strengthen the fight against digital crime and protect the integrity of the broader crypto ecosystem,” added Binance Chief Compliance Officer Noah Perlman. “Partnerships like the one with Irdeto demonstrate how collaboration between technology platforms and cybersecurity experts can help identify and remove bad actors earlier and thus more effectively, further ensuring our platform is not used to facilitate piracy or other illegal activity.”
