EBU secures FIFA Women’s World Cup 2027 rights
April 14, 2026
The European Broadcasting Union (EBU) has secured media rights to the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2027 across 18 territories on behalf of 19 EBU Members, ensuring extensive free-to-air coverage for football fans across Europe.
Under the agreement, EBU Members will deliver broad free-to-air coverage of the tournament across television, radio and digital platforms. Across all territories, at least one match per day will be broadcast on EBU Member channels, with all matches broadcast live. Tournament highlights will also be distributed, supported by Eurovision News, reinforcing the EBU’s collective commitment to expanding the reach and visibility of women’s football across Europe and beyond.
The FIFA Women’s World Cup 2027 will be broadcast by the following EBU Members: Cesky Rozhlas (Czechia), Ceská Televize (Czechia), DR (Denmark), MTVA (Hungary), NOS (Netherlands), NRK (Norway), PBS (Malta), RTBF (Belgium), RTVE (Spain), RTVS (Slovakia), RUV (Iceland), SR (Sweden), SRG SSR (Switzerland), Suspilne (Ukraine), TV 2 AS (Norway), TV2 Danmark (Denmark), TVP (Poland), VRT (Belgium), and YLE (Finland).
This agreement builds on the EBU’s historic relationship with FIFA and its support for the women’s game. EBU Members have brought the FIFA Women’s World Cup to audiences across Europe for more than a decade, beginning with coverage of the FIFA Women’s World Cup Canada 2015, alongside more recent partnerships for the FIFA Women’s World Cup Australia & New Zealand 2023 and the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022. The EBU also recently acquired rights for the FIFA World Cup 2026 and FIFA World Cup 2030.
Stefan-Eric Wildemann, Head of Football, Basketball and Digital Acquisitions, EBU Sport, commented: “Building on our long-standing partnership with FIFA, this agreement ensures that FIFA Women’s World Cup 2027 will be widely and easily accessible to fans across Europe. A strong focus on women’s sport underpins everything we do at the EBU, and by putting visibility first, we are proud not only to continue our long-standing commitment, but to keep evolving our approach in growing audiences, strengthening storytelling, and building long-term value for women’s competitions as a central part of the sports landscape.”
Brazil will host the FIFA Women’s World Cup for the first time when the tournament runs from June 24th to July 25th 2027. It will be the first edition staged in South America, as well as the tenth Women’s World Cup, and the second to feature 32 national teams.
Held every four years since the inaugural tournament in China PR in 1991, the FIFA Women’s World Cup™ has been hosted in seven countries. Five nations have lifted the trophy to date: USA (four titles), Germany (two), and Norway, Japan and Spain.
