MED.TV to debut 2 new original series this June

April 7, 2026

Following the launch of MED.TV on Rakuten TV this past February, the multi-platform channel will debut two new original series this June – INTO THE MED and MEDITERRANEAN KITCHEN  both produced by Malta-based Med Media Services.  The company has four additional series that have been greenlit and are in pre-production, set to premiere on MED.TV in Q4 2026.

INTO THE MED (5 x 40”) is a journey across the Mediterranean, exploring its rich culture, cuisine, local art, and way of life. Beginning in Gozo, one of the most-beautiful islands of the Maltese archipelago, the series explores each location’s heritage while meeting local chefs, artisans, and communities who share their traditions and stories.

MEDITERRANEAN KITCHEN (7 x 45”) is a feel-good culinary series celebrating the Mediterranean through its most-beloved traditional dishes. In each episode, a guest chef from a different Mediterranean country prepares their signature recipe inside a stunning 500-year-old house.

As part of its expanding originals strategy, Med Media Services also green-lit the following series, each designed to capture a distinct dimension of Mediterranean life and industry:

  • ARCHITECTURES OF THE MEDITERRANEAN – This documentary series explores the beauty, history, and living identity of Mediterranean architecture. Each episode focuses on a different country in the region, revealing how geography, tradition, and craftsmanship come together to shape the Mediterranean’s timeless design language.
  • MADE IN MED – This series explores the heartbeat of the Mediterranean through the hands of the people who build it, bake it, and breathe life into its traditions.  From the colorful timber of a traditional fishing boat to the glowing core of hand-blown glass, this series uncovers the grit, sweat, and genius hidden within local craftsmanship.
  • MEDSET – This high-access documentary series takes viewers behind the security perimeters of the world’s most ambitious film and television productions filmed across the Mediterranean basin.  From major international productions to prestigious independent cinema, viewers will see what happens when global storytellers meet the unique light and landscape of the Med.
  • MED LEADERS – Each episode delves into the inspiring journey of a Mediterranean business leader, revealing their professional evolution, motivations, struggles, and triumphs.  Through intimate interviews, personal archives, and company insights, MED LEADERS paints a human portrait of leadership in the Mediterranean business world.

All four series are currently in pre-production and will debut on MED.TV by Q4 2026.  All originals are available for international licensing.

“Original programming is central to how we are building MED.TV as a distinctive global brand,” said Manolo Mantovani, COO, Med Media Services. “It allows us to move beyond aggregation and create content that reflects the Mediterranean with authenticity—through its people, industries, and creative communities. At the same time, these series are designed to travel, giving us premium IP that strengthens both our editorial identity and our international distribution strategy.”

Launched in 2025, MED.TV showcases the Mediterranean through a premium mix of original and curated content spanning documentaries, travel and culinary series, feature films, classical concerts and opera, as well as coverage and highlights from major business events and Mediterranean-focused current affairs programs.

Original  content now available on MED.TV includes the series MED WHATS ON (20 x 20”), featuring highlights of upcoming events, festivals, performances, and creative happenings across the region; and the short-form series  MED MINDS (10 x 4”), tracing the lives of those who dared to think differently, from the artistic fire of Caravaggio to the quiet intellect of Hypatia; MED NATIONS (15 x 4”), aimed at explaining the specific cultural and civic identity of each country in the region; and MED MEMOIRS (365 x 2”, Daily), a video almanac of remarkable events, legendary figures, and timeless stories that have shaped the Mediterranean.

MED.TV is the only ad-supported channel of its kind that celebrates the Mediterranean in all its complexity and beauty. The company continues to be platform-agnostic in its approach, working with conventional cable, as well as satellite and OTT providers.

In addition to Rakuten TV, MED.TV is also currently available as a broadcast service via Eutelsat’s Hotbird satellite, as well as a FAST and OTT channel, and reaches over  300 million homes across Europe, North Africa, and the Middle East.
