Curb promoted to HMPG president

March 12, 2026

Bryan Curb, EVP and GM, educational/informational (E/I) programming of Hearst Media Production Group (HMPG), has been promoted to HMPG president. The appointment, effective July 1st, was announced by Michael J. Hayes, president of HMPG parent Hearst Television.

Curb succeeds Frank Biancuzzo, who is retiring at mid-year.

HMPG, a business unit of Hearst Television, is an independent producer and distributor of original programming; it was established in 2021 following the completion of Hearst’s acquisition of Litton Entertainment.

“Bryan has nurtured and grown the success of HMPG’s educational and informational programming for more than a decade,” commented Hayes. “His deep understanding of the evolving independent production marketplace, accomplishments across the network programming landscape, and familiarity with Hearst Television make him uniquely qualified to carry forward the foundation Frank built.”

“I’ve had the privilege of working closely with Bryan as HMPG has grown, and I’ve seen firsthand the vision, passion, and leadership he brings to every initiative,” Biancuzzo said. “He has helped shape the culture and growth of our organization and drive its success.”

HMPG reaches more than 17 million weekly viewers, with a library of 85 original series distributed across leading broadcast and cable networks, local stations, connected TV, and streaming platforms. Its content is available in more than 100 countries.

Curb has previously served as executive producer on more than 40 network television series.  He was appointed HMPG’s executive vice president and general manager, E/I in 2022 after serving as chief creative officer for Litton Entertainment. As EVP, Curb oversaw all aspects of E/I programming, including programme development and production, business standards and practices, sales and marketing.

Under Curb’s leadership, HMPG brought back to broadcast television such iconic brands as the Harlem Globetrotters and Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kingdom, introduced new multi-season programming, extended HMPG content onto digital platforms and oversaw new records for HMPG shows in terms of audience ratings and awards. Before joining Litton in 2018, Curb was founder and CEO of MTO Productions, a Burbank-based independent television and video production company.  He created network programming and content for a variety of platforms including ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX and Comedy Central, as well as for brands such as Kraft, Quaker, Frito-Lay and the UFC.  Curb began his career as a director and editor with credits on more than 100 episodes of television, as well as national commercials and series main titles.
