nanocosmos unveils real-time QUIC streaming platform

June 17, 2025

nanocosmos, the Berlin-based pioneer in real-time video streaming technologies, has announced the launch of its next-generation streaming platform powered by Media over QUIC (MoQ) and WebTransport. The new platform will be demonstrated at the Fraunhofer FOKUS Media Web Symposium, in Berlin next week.

With MoQ at its core, nanocosmos delivers a breakthrough in real time ultra-low latency streaming – combining broadcast-grade delivery with sub-second interactivity across any browser and device. The result: a production-ready platform that brings MoQ out of the lab and into real-world business applications.

The nanocosmos architecture is built for businesses that depend on real-time video for interactive engagement — from iGaming and live auctions to corporate events and virtual engagement platforms. It reflects a broader shift: moving from protocol-level innovation to practical infrastructure that supports new revenue models and audience experiences.

The nanoStream Platform transmits audio and video over the QUIC protocol. “While the IETF MOQT standard is still under development, we are using our own media-over-QUIC approach (MOQ, not MOQT) to deliver low-latency live streams to enable and improve exciting use cases and bring this technology to our customers,” said Oliver Lietz, CEO of nanocosmos.

MoQ is deeply integrated into the nanoStream ecosystem. Existing workflows remain intact, while the browser-native nanoStream Player enables MoQ-based delivery with zero configuration – a simple player update is all that’s required to take advantage of the new capabilities. Where MoQ is not available, an automatic failover is enabled to ULL-HLS and/or Websocket transport for seamless experiences on any device or network.

nanocosmos supports the broadcast-aligned MoQ-Streaming model for one-to-many live streaming using adaptive bitrate (ABR).

Based on over 1,000 global nodes handling several petabytes throughput, the architecture enables sub-500ms end-to-end latency and intelligent congestion handling – all while maintaining compatibility with modern browsers and production environments.

By delivering on the technical promise of MoQ with global stability and seamless integration, nanocosmos offers a deployable, scalable foundation for interactive media at scale – delivering an end-to-end streaming platform that demonstrates what next-generation audience engagement should look like.

More importantly, it enables media and entertainment companies to rethink how they deliver value, drawing lessons from interactive sectors like gaming and live commerce.

nanocosmos core focus remains on mission-critical real-time streaming for interactive business models – from live auctions, iGaming, and education to corporate town halls, live commerce, and virtual engagement platforms.

“There’s been a lot of noise around MoQ, and rightly so,” said Oliver Lietz, CEO and Founder of nanocosmos. “But this isn’t lab tech or future promise. We are following a pragmatic approach solving existing challenges for our customers’ use cases, and unlocking new business models through deeper, real-time audience connections. We’ve built a production-ready platform that puts MoQ to work today. It’s fully integrated, stable, and backwards-compatible with existing workflows, requiring nothing more than a simple player update.”
