HBO Max unveils first look at Portobello on anniversary Of Tortora’s arrest

On June 17th 1983, Enzo Tortora was arrested. To mark the anniversary, Max has released the first images from Portobello, the new series by Marco Bellocchio, dedicated to the dramatic story of the Italian TV host. The series is set to premiere on HBO Max in 2026.
The clip shows the moment when Tortora, portrayed by Fabrizio Gifuni, appears in handcuffs outside a Roman police station.
Tortora was falsely accused by several inmates of being at the centre of a drug trafficking operation run by the Neapolitan Camorra. Arrested, imprisoned, and dragged through a lengthy trial, he was fully acquitted only after years of legal ordeal.
This series is the first Italian original production announced by Warner Bros Discovery for the new HBO Max streaming platform. Portobello is produced by Our Films, a Mediawan Group company, and Kavac Film, in co-production with ARTE France and in collaboration with The Apartment Pictures, part of the Fremantle Group. The series is produced by Lorenzo Mieli and Mario Gianani for Our Films, and by Simone Gattoni for KAVAC FILM.
The cast also features Lino Musella, Romana Maggiora Vergano, Barbora Bobulova, Carlotta Gamba, Alessandro Preziosi, Fausto Russo Alesi, and Salvatore D’Onofrio. The series was written by Marco Bellocchio, Stefano Bises, Giordana Mari, and Peppe Fiore. Cinematography is by Francesco Di Giacomo, production design by Andrea Castorina, costumes by Daria Calvelli, editing by Francesca Calvelli, and original music by Teho Teardo.
