United Media acquires 50% equity stake in Alpha TV
June 16, 2025

United Media, part of United Group – the Southeastern European telco – has received unconditional approval from the European Commission for the acquisition of a 50 per cent equity stake in Alpha TV, a FTA TV station in Greece, from Primos Media. The remaining 50 per cent of Alpha TV is owned by Motor Oil Hellas. Alpha TV also owns 50 per cent of Green Pixel, the original content production house with a long-standing history of producing some of Greece’s highest-rated content.
Through this transaction, United Media says it will acquire equity stakes in high-quality, strategically valuable media assets in Greece, specifically within the FTA television sector. This transaction aligns with United Media’s objective of strengthening its presence in the European market.
Financial terms were not disclosed.
Additionally, Kiki Silvestriadou is being appointed Deputy Chief Executive Officer and Vice Chair of the Board of Directors of Alpha TV. She will continue to serve as Chief Executive Officer of Nova Media Greek pay-TV platform; and George Lamprou, CEO of Nova – a member of United Group – is being appointed Non-Executive Member of Alpha TV’s Board of Directors.
