WBD sees record audiences for Roland-Garros
June 11, 2025

Warner Bros Discovery (WBD) has reported that its coverage of Roland-Garros 2025 resulted in a record-breaking edition with more fans across Europe (excluding France) streaming action from the tennis Grand-Slam than ever before.
Millions of viewers enjoyed coverage of all 900 available matches on WBD’s platforms Max, HBO Max and discovery+ with streaming audiences increasing by almost a third compared to the 2024 tournament.
Across Europe (excluding France), the men’s singles final secured the biggest audience with +77 per cent more fans watching the epic five-set contest between Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz compared to last year’s final (Carlos Alcaraz vs Alexander Zverev) as the Spanish world number two secured his second straight Roland-Garros title.
WBD’s television coverage also resulted in strong audience engagement with Eurosport 2 reporting its biggest ever tennis audience during the two weeks of the main draw and Eurosport 1’s viewership remaining consistent with last year’s record edition. Mirroring the trend on its streaming platforms, the men’s singles final was the biggest ever for Eurosport’s pan-European coverage (excluding France) with audiences growing by +9 per cent year-on-year.
Powered by the popularity of world number one Sinner in his home country, WBD’s free-to-air coverage on Nova in Italy secured a 44 per cent peak audience share nationally with one in two Italians tuning in the men’s singles final. Viewership peaked at 7.3 million while more than 1.4 million people watched concurrently on Eurosport 1 in an all-time record match for WBD.
Likewise, Spain heralded Alcaraz as WBD secured a 23 per cent combined audience share on its free-to-air channel DMAX with premium coverage on Eurosport 1 during the men’s singles final. The match was the second most watched tennis broadcast ever in Spain, second only to Rafael Nadal’s last ever Grand Slam title at the 2022 Roland-Garros final.
In the UK, TNT Sports was broadcasting a Grand Slam tournament for the first time following the integration of Eurosport’s assets and content portfolio early in the year. The men’s singles final was the most watched tennis match in the history of WBD in the UK with millions tuning in to see Alcaraz come from two sets down to beat Sinner, achieving a +20 per cent increase in viewers compared to last year’s final on Eurosport. This record-breaking match beat WBD’s previous highest UK tennis audience observed during the 2016 final between Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray with +6 per cent more viewers tuning in overall.
On its streaming platform in the UK, discovery+, WBD secured +88 per cent more viewers compared to last year’s men’s singles final and more than doubled its streaming audience for the women’s singles final as Coco Gauff beat Aryna Sabalenka to win her first Roland-Garros title.
In the US, WBD’s TNT Sports was also broadcasting Roland-Garros for the first time on TNT, truTV and Max. Overall, TNT’s coverage in the US throughout the two-week event was up +25 per cent compared to 2024. Driven by the success of Coco Gauff, the women’s singles final delivered an average audience of 1.5 million viewers, up +94 per cent compared to 2024’s final, with the men’s final delivering 1.8 million average viewers, increasing +8 per cent vs last year.
WBD’s social and digital platforms, including Eurosport and TNT Sports social channels across Europe, expanded the storytelling and garnered 883 million video views by serving fans original, exclusive and behind-the-scenes content. Similarly in the US, content shared on WBD’s Bleacher Report and House of Highlights generated more than 800 million video views.
WBD’s Grand Slam tennis coverage continues with Wimbledon beginning on July 30th for viewers in Belgium, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Finland, Hungary, Iceland, Netherlands, Norway, Romania, Slovakia and Sweden.
