MTV announces new digital shows
May 22, 2025

MTV has announced a raft of new and returning digital commissions that are set to launch this year. The slate was ordered as part of MTV’s strategy to serve a wide range of audiences with compelling stories that build on the channel’s most popular franchises.
The first new commission is a docuseries, Geordie Stories: Nathan and Dad (4 x 22’) following MTV’s own Nathan Henry (Geordie Shore) as he embarks on a life-changing journey with his father Glen, who is living with terminal cancer. The four-part series offers an emotional look at black father-son relationships through a lens of vulnerability, heritage and identity. Audiences will follow Nathan and Glen to Jamaica, Glen’s birthplace, as they reconnect with family roots and open up about masculinity, illness and LGBTQ+ acceptance in Caribbean culture. The series will be released in June on MTV UK’s YouTube channel and will be available on MTV’s linear channel later in the year.
“This is a perspective we rarely see on screen – a proud Jamaican father and his openly gay black son navigating love, care and legacy,” says Director of Digital Commissioning and Production, Amie Parker-Williams, who conceived the idea before partnering with BAFTA-winning production company Doc Hearts to produce the series. “We’re seeing more father-son relationships in unscripted TV, but the absence of authentic black father-son stories inadvertently reinforces the stereotype of absent fathers in black culture. This show is about flipping that narrative. It’s bold, emotional and necessary.”
The second new commission is Up At Night, which asks the question, ‘What keeps us up at night, and how do we deal with it?’ In each episode, Up At Night brings together a trio of celebrities from diverse backgrounds to open up about their mental health journey, professional struggles, and personal anxieties in an intimate, unscripted roundtable. The series was created by Executive Producer, Chris Smith in partnership with Paramount’s Social Impact team, as part of the company’s wider commitment to supporting mental health. This uplifting and unfiltered digital-first series aims to destigmatise mental health conversations among young people and guide audiences toward accessible support and resources.
The third digital series announced is the return of companion vodcast Dating Naked: Celebrities React which will launch later this year on MTV UK’s YouTube channel to accompany the return of Paramount+ and MTV’s smash hit Dating Naked. The hosts and a celebrity will dissect each episode of Dating Naked, offering commentary, behind-the-scenes insight and discussions around themes of body positivity, intimacy, and modern relationships.
Also returning is the critically acclaimed vodcast MTV Faces (6X60’). The third series will continue its mission to spotlight difficult, often taboo, unfiltered conversations. Following previous seasons exploring grief with Ashley Cain and ADHD with Jordan Stephens, this new instalment dives into the complex theme of body image, hosted by best-selling author and social media activist Megan Jayne Crabbe. Guests in the new series will include actor and founder of Move Your Mind, Jameela Jamil; activist, author and model Munroe Bergdorf and content creator and campaigner Nikki Lilly.
Parker-Williams added: “Our 2025 slate reflects our commitment to bold, purposeful storytelling and speaks to Paramount’s and MTV’s legacy of driving real impact through entertainment. I’m proud of how our teams and talent have come together to create content that’s emotionally resonant, culturally relevant, and deeply rooted in our values.”
