Winners of second MCM Scholarship for Aspiring Creatives revealed
May 9, 2025
ReedPop has revealed the winners of the May 2025 MCM Scholarship, returning for the second year after debuting last October. The MCM Scholarship aims to empower aspiring young creatives to take the first step into their future careers.
Those selected to win the scholarship are granted free entry for all three days of MCM Comic Con this May, a three night stay at a hotel near Excel London and a cash prize of £500. They will also receive a bespoke itinerary created for them by ReedPop based on their career goals, setting them up to connect with and learn from leaders in their chosen fields.
This year’s MCM Scholarship winners are:
Muminah Koleoso
Muminah is an aspiring author and poet based in Scotland, who dreams of becoming a widely-read science fiction and fantasy author. Through her work, she amplifies underrepresented voices and pushes genre boundaries, blurring the lines between sci-fi and poetry. She aims to use the MCM Scholarship to help her build a likeminded literary community and host workshops for other marginalised creatives.
Sudipta Patra
Making his way to MCM Comic Con all the way from Northern Ireland, Sudipta is an up-and-coming comic book illustrator and children’s author. The MCM Scholarship will help kickstart his goal of establishing a career as an illustrator and storyteller across comics, children’s books and animation.
Ash Norman
Ash is an aspiring video game concept artist within game development, hoping to start a full-time career at an independent game studio. They will use the MCM Scholarship to network with video games industry professionals in attendance at MCM Comic Con and expand their artistry across gaming, music videos, films and comics.
The reinstatement of the MCM Scholarship in 2025 comes as a part of a wider commitment to investing in the future of the creative industry and supporting young people from working class and underrepresented backgrounds who may not otherwise have easy access to their dream careers.
All visitors to MCM Comic Con will have access to valuable educational content, including special effects makeup workshops with professional SFX artist BBSFX, one-on-one voice acting coaching with voice actors JD Kelly and Trine Jensen, an interactive young adult fiction writing workshop with the author of the Mina and the Undead Trilogy, Amy McCaw amongst others.
MCM Comic Con returns to Excel London from May 23rd to 25th.
