Incredible Film secures distribution rights to horror film Jimmy
October 31, 2024
Dutch sales agent Incredible Film has secured international distribution rights to new supernatural horror film Jimmy (85’) made by neo-horror producers Bloodrave.
Directed by Bloodrave co-founder David-Jan Bronsgeest and written by co-founder Tim Koomen, Jimmy is the story of convicted killer Jim, who uses a true crime podcast to take revenge on a group of friends. Bloodrave landed a deal in 2018 with Paramount Pictures when the rights to their short horror film Meet Jimmy (the short prequel to Jimmy) were sold, and with Spyglass, who bought the rights to their supernatural boogeyman short Mr. Lonely.
In Jimmy, when one of Dilara’s childhood friends is murdered, she returns to her hometown and starts to suspect that the well known village local Jim is out to get revenge on her group of friends. Using a true crime podcast, Jimmy targets the group: the longer they listen to it, the greater the risk that he will come after them. When there is another murder at a rave, Dilara becomes convinced that her group is being targeted by this mysterious presence linked to a supernatural podcast and must race to uncover the truth before it’s too late.
This horror puts a spin on the phenomenon of true crime podcasts, layered with thrilling supernatural elements. Dutch actors Rick Paul van Mulligen (Grisse, A’dam – E.V.A.), Sonia Eijken (Zenith: Supercharged Family), Isa Hoes (Goede Tijden, Slechte Tijden) lead the cast.
Jimmy joins Incredible Film’s growing slate of thriller and horror features, which also includes Amsterdamned II. The international sales agent will present the film to new global partners at AFM.
The film premiered in Dutch cinemas this summer, receiving critical acclaim and has already been sold to Belgium and The Netherlands.
Daniëlle Raaphorst, CEO of Incredible Film, said: “Jimmy taps into the growing cultural fascination with true crime, adding a new layer of tension when a true crime podcast has real world consequences. We are excited to have this completely unique take on horror, onboard our slate and ready for AFM. Jimmy has all the supernatural mystery and psychological thrill that an audience wants from a classic horror, but with a twist.”
