Globalstar quietly earning money

While Starlink and AST SpaceMobile slug it out for potential market share, a much smaller rival has reported Q2
revenues which had grown over the past quarter year (to June 30th).
Globalstar is the small satellite operator that’s already active thanks to its close relationship with Apple. It reported a 10 per cent increase in revenue, an 18 per cent increase in service revenue and a 20 per cent jump in EBITDA.
We’re doing proof of concept and then we’ll move into the operational phase and full deployment,” Globalstar CEO Paul E Jacobs said. “It’s a new set of technologies that runs over our network. Our satellites are bent-pipe, so the technology innovation happens on the ground.”
While its main business target are wholesale and government services, the company has enjoyed considerable enthusiasm for its consumer-facing retail division.
Globalstar has issued an order to Canada’s MDA Space to build at least 17 extra satellites – and perhaps as many as 26 – with Apple underwriting almost the whole cost. Apple debuted its satellite direct-to-smartphone service on Globalstar in 2022.
