The World Championship of Legends secures top viewership

August 6, 2024

On July 13th the World Championship of Legends (WCL) attracted almost 20,000 spectators to Edgbaston and captured the interest of cricket fans worldwide. Nearly 100 million cricket fans watched the historic match between India and Pakistan live on TV on OTT platforms and on social media. Many were astounded by the enormous number of viewers who named the tournament the Father of All Rivalries.

Earning the support of the prestigious England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) gave the WCL legitimacy and prestige and this was a major turning point in the league’s success. By drawing an outstanding roster of players that included both current stars without contracts with their respective boards and cricket legends WCL further solidified its reputation in the sport.

A high degree of competition and excitement is guaranteed by this diverse lineup. Following the IPL’s successful model, WCL easily integrated Bollywood into its structure. Entertainment and cricket have come together in a way that has greatly increased the league’s appeal thanks to the league’s partnership with Ajay Devgn and Bollywood actress Jacqueline Fernandez’s affiliation with one of the team franchises.

Unlike other leagues where most of the players are retired, the WCL was able to assemble a roster of players who are still impacting the sport and are currently competing.

WCL guaranteed the highest caliber of competition drawing a wide range of spectators. As countries like champions India and England competed excitement grew and pride in one’s country was sparked.

The World Championship of Legends founder and CEO Harshit Tomar said, “Fans have come to love the WCL because of its strategic execution outstanding star power in cricket and unwavering entertainment value. He was speaking about the history of media viewership.”

While early success in establishing the league’s tournaments across the globe has been achieved the leagues expansion will require consistent and long-lasting influence.

One of the people who founded the WCL singer Harshit Tomar has played a significant role in attracting cricket fans from around the globe. Thanks to Harshit Tomar’s visionary leadership the tournament has a promising future.
