Formula E Challenge raises record sponsorship offer in The Apprentice
March 1, 2024
Formula E and The Apprentice have unveiled a bespoke challenge where candidates went head-to-head in creating their own unique Formula E teams.
It was the team Nexus lead by project manager Tre Lowe who secured the victory, taking home £38.7 million in offers of sponsorship and smashing the show’s previous record of just £1.2 million for the amount raised in a team challenge. Meanwhile Virdi Singh Mazaria leading team Supream faulted in getting their team up to speed, only securing £21.5 million as runners up.
As a result Onyeka Nweze became the latest candidate to head home and miss out on the opportunity to be crowned this year’s winner of The Apprentice.
Aired in the UK on BBC One and iPlayer on February 29th, the remaining 13 candidates in week five of the show designed their own Formula E team liveries along with developing compelling commercial and brand strategies to convince corporate partners to invest in and sponsor their own teams.
With creative brand interpretations of Formula E’s founding pillars including innovation, sustainability and entertainment, tensions were high with savvy decision making and deal closing as teams Nexus and Supream competed for the biggest sponsorship deals possible following a dramatic double firing during last week’s show.
