The US Patent Office has granted a Patent covering ‘SATCOM GSM Solution Directly Communicate With GSM Phones’. The Patent was granted on November 14th 2023 to three inventors – Zhi Zhong Yu or Reading UK, Frederico Pedro Fawzi of Midland, Texas and Abel Avelian of Coral Gables, Florida.
The Continuation Patent is assigned to AST SpacMobile.
The Patent narrative says: “GSM satellite communications system is in communication with a first satellite having a field of view including a first plurality of cells in which a plurality of active User Equipment (UE) are located. The plurality of active UEs are in direct communication with the first satellite.”
The ‘Continuation’ element covers an earlier Patent (for “Device-Driven Mobility for Non-Terrestrial Communication Networks” Sipra et. al., Google LLC Provisional appl. filed: October 18th 2021).
