Vodafone offers $5 flat rate for IFC

Vodafone is offering travellers a $5 per day for ‘all you can eat’ connectivity while in the air. The telco has struck deals with a large number of airlines and the fee covers what Vodafone describes as “airline roaming” for international flights. Vodafone says its satellite-based services will offer “3G like” download and upload speeds.
One appealing claim, says Vodafone, is that the flat-rate fee will put an end to “rip off” inflight fees. Vodafone says that travellers can access the $5 per day scheme for up to 90 days per annum.
[Author’s note: As a Vodafone customer, I am charged £6 per day (about $7.28) whenever I roam using my phone in one of their non-European countries.]
“We have customers joining Vodafone every day who are sick of the great roaming rip off” says Kieren Cooney, Vodafone Group Executive, Consumer. “Whether you’re in another country or on your way there, Vodafone is working hard to help you stay connected and save money.”
